Currently we might know that some operators decided to deploy UMTS Band at 900 MHz.The aim to deploy the UMTS in 900 MHz band is the better coverage compared to that of UMTS 2100 MHz. Indosat in Indonesia and M1 Singapore are ready to deploy UMTS 900 in their network. Those two operators have large spectrum frequencies in 900 MHz so they are possible to divide the 900 MHz frequencies for GSM 900 and UMTS 900.

If we take a look in 3GPP specifications Release 7, there are new frequency bands allocated for UMTS for different regions in the world. The allocated frequency bands are shown in Table 1. Band I is often referred as UMTS Core Band and band VIII as EGSM900 Band.

LTE Overview

Currently, Telecommunication Operators in Indonesia are busy to prepare trial for Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. The largest Telecommunication Operator in Indonesia, Telkomsel prepare the trial in Bali in June 2013. The other Operators prepare for the trial in this year while waiting the regulation from Government of Indonesia. The ministry of Information & Technology of Indonesia planned to use 2100 MHz or 750MHz as a spectrum range for LTE.

We might prepare ourselves to know what is LTE, hence when the Government release the Regulation for LTE we are ready to implement it.
Based on 3GPP Release:
LTE or the E-UTRAN (Evolved Universal Terrestrial Access Network) is the access part of the Evolved Packet System (EPS).

LTE Interview Questions

LTE Interview Questions

Long Term Evolution is something we have all heard of, and hopefully understand. It is a complex technology with hefty goals, and when fully launched will make our wireless experience faster and more efficient. But there still may be questions you have or you may be planning to further your LTE knowledge, and need to know which LTE interview questions to ask. To help you navigate, we’ve listed some of the most frequently asked questions, when it comes to LTE. To make sure you feel confident and have an understanding at least at an introductory level, we’ve also provided answers to some of the most basic LTE-related questions. Here are some popular ones, according to LteWorld:

What is LTE?
“LTE (Long Term Evolution) is initiated by 3GPP to improve the mobile phone standard to cope with future technology evolutions and needs.”

Prelaunch Optimization (PLO) or Initial Optimization is required in Wireless Network for any technologies either GSM, UMTS, LTE or CDMA. PLO is mandatory activity as soon as a site launched into a network to ensure that site do not have any bad impact to whole network or disturb neighbors sites performance.

Pre-launch optimization occurs typically few months prior to commercial launch of a network, meaning at a time where the network is not mature and number of subscribers is limited to pilot customer and test users only. Therefore, the pre-launch optimization process should be seen as trouble shooting processes rather than “standard” optimization process.

Main key behind pre-launch optimization is extensive drive testing. The results of drive tests are the only reliable information about the network quality and problems in such situation as described above. BSS statistics are not at all reliable in situation where we have very limited traffic; therefore it is almost impossible to get any results from BSS statistics during pre-launch optimization. KPI (Key Performance Indicator) Acceptance shall be met in defined times as agreed between Operator & Vendor
